Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • Pre-epidemic activity. Increased detection of RSV according to the virology laboratories at Rennes University Hospital and Brest University Hospital. Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are circulating, notably rhinoviruses.

  • Maternal vaccination and infant immunization with monoclonal antibodies are two alternative strategies for preventing RSV bronchiolitis.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • Low activity outside of the epidemic season. Sporadic detection of influenza A virus according to data from the Virology Laboratories at the Rennes and Brest University Hospitals, and of influenza B virus according to the Rennes University Hospital.

  • The fall vaccination campaign against influenza and COVID-19 began on October 15.

Pneumonia

  • Increased use of emergency departments and SOS Médecins for pneumonia.
