Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • Pre-epidemic activity. Increased detection of RSV according to the virology laboratories at the Rennes and Brest University Hospitals. Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are circulating, notably rhinoviruses.

  • Maternal vaccination and infant immunization with monoclonal antibodies are two alternative strategies for preventing RSV bronchiolitis.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • Non-epidemic activity, low. Detection of influenza A and influenza B viruses according to data from the Virology Laboratory at the Rennes University Hospital. Only influenza A detected at the Brest University Hospital.

  • The fall vaccination campaign against influenza and COVID-19 began on October 15.

SOS Médecins Consultations

  • Stable number of emergency room visits (+0.4%) and increase in the number of SOS Médecins consultations for all causes (+6.8%) during Week 46 compared to Week 45. The volumes of emergency room visits and SOS Médecins consultations (all causes) are similar to observations from previous years during the same period for all ages.
