The Need for Monitoring of Individuals Who Participated in Cleanup Operations at Sites Contaminated by Oil from the Erika: Opinion Issued by the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance on April 20, 2000

A health risk assessment was conducted by INERIS and RIVM to characterize and quantify the long-term health risks faced by volunteers and professionals exposed to oil from the Erika while cleaning beaches and birds. Based on these assessments, the InVS issued an opinion on the appropriateness of monitoring individuals who participated in these cleanup efforts. (R.A.)
