Public Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of August 25, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Indicators should be interpreted with caution this week due to the August 15 holiday weekend. The holiday-adjusted incidence rate has risen slightly (202 vs. 189 per 100,000 population in Week 1), which is slightly lower than the national rate: 211 per 100,000 population. The positivity rate remains stable (21.6% vs. 21.5% in S-1), amid a decline in testing.

  • The Omicron variant is circulating almost exclusively in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region (99% of RT-PCR samples sequenced in S32).

  • The latest available screening data suggest that the BA.4/BA.5 sublineages are the clear majority (92%) in the region, though perhaps less so in the Yonne department (81%). Interpretation is limited by the small number of sequenced samples available for recent weeks.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • No unusual increase in activity at emergency departments or SOS Médecins clinics in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

  • Indicators of heat-related illnesses remain at low levels.
