Heat Waves and Health in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Bulletin dated August 11, 2025.
Key Points
According to Météo France, the orange alert issued on Sunday, August 10, for the Jura and Saône-et-Loire regions is being extended on Monday, August 11, to the southern part of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté: Côte d’Or, Nièvre, and Doubs. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the heatwave conditions will spread toward the northeast. Temperatures there will be particularly high during the day. From Thursday through Saturday, the risk of a heatwave persists, particularly in the southern half of the country, and is lower in the central and northeastern regions.
The analysis—which currently covers the two departments of Jura and Saône-et-Loire—of emergency care utilization indicates that the iCanicule composite health indicator (including heatstroke, dehydration, and hyponatremia) has remained stable since the start of the heatwave.
This analysis will cover the entire Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region starting Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
Heat poses a health risk to the entire population. The observed health impacts underscore the importance of implementing preventive measures to mitigate the effects of heat.
