Infections related to the novel coronavirus (nCoV): care pathway in Burgundy and Franche-Comté and case definition. The novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a strain that had never before been detected in humans. Most cases had traveled to one of the countries on the Arabian Peninsula or neighboring countries prior to the onset of symptoms. This geographic area is therefore considered high-risk. People infected with NCoV have presented with symptoms of acute and severe respiratory infection, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, and difficulty breathing. Several patients have also developed acute kidney failure, while others have experienced visceral involvement or gastrointestinal symptoms. The risk of infection applies to: - individuals who have traveled to the Arabian Peninsula and develop respiratory symptoms and fever in the days following their return. - individuals in close contact with an infected person. These individuals must contact the SAMU Centre 15 either directly or through their doctor. SAMU Centre 15 will contact the Regional Health Agency’s (ARS Franche-Comté 03 81 65 58 18 / ARS Bourgogne 03 80 41 99 99) to confirm with Cire epidemiologists—in coordination with InVS-St Maurice if necessary—the classification of the patient as a “possible case.” [...]
