Key Points

Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika Virus

  • From May 1 to July 7, 2023, 154 imported cases of dengue were biologically confirmed in mainland France, including 143 in overseas departments (Table 2). Nearly half of the cases (49%, 75 cases) were returning from the French West Indies (Martinique and Guadeloupe). Five imported cases of chikungunya were also biologically confirmed in mainland France in endemic departments. To date, no imported cases of Zika virus infection have been confirmed in mainland France.

  • In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, two imported cases of dengue were biologically confirmed in a colonized department. The cases were returning from Thailand and Martinique. They were reported through the mandatory reporting system.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • No unusual increase in activity at emergency departments or SOS Médecins associations in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

  • Indicators of heat-related illnesses rose slightly from July 8 to 12.
