COVID-19

In Week 8, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation remains high but continues to decline. The incidence rate is 452 per 100,000 inhabitants, down 34% from the previous week (vs. -48% in Week 7). Incidence rates are decreasing across all age groups and in all departments. In Week 8, the highest incidence rates are observed in Cantal, Allier, Ardèche, Puy-de-Dôme, and Haute-Loire.
The number of new hospitalizations for COVID-19 and the number of admissions to intensive care units continue to decline (down 37% and 21%, respectively, in Week 8). The total number of hospitalized patients decreased by 13% over the course of one week, and the number of patients receiving care in intensive care units for COVID-19 decreased by 19%.

Influenza

During Week 08 (February 21–27, 2022), in inpatient care, according to data from the Oscour® network, hospital visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were slightly down. In Week 08, 408 emergency department visits for influenza/influenza-like illness were recorded (-8% compared to Week 07), representing 1.0% of all visits across all age groups (1.1% in Week 07). Among these visits, 216 cases (52.9% vs. 73.3% in Week 07) were under 15 years of age, and 38 cases (9.3% vs. 7.2% in Week 07) were 65 years of age or older. Of these 408 visits, 50 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 12.3% for this diagnosis, an increase compared to Week 7 (11.5%). Hospitalizations for influenza/influenza-like illness accounted for 0.6% of all hospitalizations in Week 08, stable compared to the previous week (0.7% in Week 07).
