Comparison of emergency department visits (Oscour®) in October–November 2021 compared to the previous two months (August–September 2021)
Mental health disorders, adults: 6,474 visits in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes among adults in October, 6,158 visits in November 2021, stable (-1%)
Mental health disorders, children: 686 visits among children (<18 years old) in October, 722 visits in November 2021, an increase (+30%)
Suicidal acts: 575 cases among those aged 11 and older in October, 624 cases in November 2021, an increase (+13%)
Suicidal thoughts: 302 visits among those aged 11 and older in October, 292 visits in November 2021, a slight increase (+5%)
Mood disorders: 1,357 visits (all ages) in October, 1,374 visits in November 2021, a slight increase (+4%)
Anxiety disorders: 2,135 visits in October, 2,124 visits in November 2021, a slight increase (+3%)
Psychotic disorders: 457 visits (all ages) in October, 403 in November 2021, a slight decrease (-7%)
A comparison with the same period in previous years shows a higher number of visits for mood disorders, suicidal behavior, or suicidal ideation among 11- to 17-year-olds. Among those aged 18 and older, levels are comparable to previous years except for suicidal ideation, which is more frequent.
