Heat Waves and Health in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Bulletin dated June 25, 2025.
Key Points
Since Friday, June 20, 2025, due to extreme heat, Météo-France has placed two departments under an orange alert—Isère and Rhône (39.1% of the region’s resident population)—and ten departments under a yellow alert (60.9% of the region’s resident population). Allier, Cantal, and Puy-de-Dôme were removed from the yellow alert on Monday, June 23, 2025.
A regional analysis of emergency care utilization indicates an increase in the iCanicule composite health indicator (including hyperthermia, dehydration, and hyponatremia) since the start of the heatwave.
This trend falls within the expected fluctuations for the current weather conditions.
