Heat Wave and Health Alert System in Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes. Update as of June 21, 2017.

Key Points

  • An initial yellow alert affected certain departments in the region last week: Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, and Rhône. A few visits to emergency rooms and SOS Médecins consultations related to the heat were reported. The elderly were primarily affected.

  • Two additional departments were upgraded to an orange alert yesterday (Savoie and Haute-Savoie). In total, there are now 8 departments under an orange alert and 4 under a yellow alert in our region. This heatwave alert continues to intensify throughout the week and remains early for this time of year.

  • A slight increase in heat-related illnesses is beginning to be observed in emergency room activity, particularly among the elderly.
