Heat and Health in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. A Review of the Summer of 2025.

  • In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes:

    • Nearly 2,800 emergency care visits related to heat waves were recorded during the summer, 18% of which occurred during heat waves. Two-thirds of these visits resulted in hospitalization. All age groups were affected, but people aged 75 and older were the most affected.

    • Heat-related mortality is estimated at nearly 780 deaths over the entire summer (≈ 4% of all-cause mortality observed), including more than 320 deaths during heat waves (≈ 12% of all-cause mortality observed during these episodes), slightly lower than in 2022 and 2023. Nearly three-quarters of these deaths involved people aged 75 and older.
