Health Surveillance in Rhône-Alpes. Epidemiological Update as of August 27, 2015.
Summary
Heat Wave and Health Alert System: No new heat wave episodes have occurred since the third one in early August in the region. A comprehensive report on the health surveillance conducted during these heat wave episodes will be released shortly.
Enhanced surveillance for chikungunya and dengue: Since May 1, 2015, 18 cases of dengue and 5 cases of imported chikungunya have been confirmed in the 5 departments of the region covered by this system. Two locally acquired cases of dengue have been identified in Nîmes (Languedoc-Roussillon region).Management measures have been implemented, and a thorough investigation to identify any related cases is underway.
2015 Seasonal Surveillance of Mushroom Poisoning Cases: Increase in the number of cases based on data from poison control centers and SurSaUD since Week 33 in the Rhône-Alpes region.
West Africa Ebola Update: As of August 19, 2015, the WHO reports a total of 27,952 cases (suspected, probable, and confirmed) and 11,284 deaths in the three most affected countries. In week 33, Guinea reported 3 new cases. No new cases were reported in Liberia, and for the first time since the start of the outbreak, none were reported in Sierra Leone.
