COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes as of June 25, 2020

Summary

More than a month after the start of the easing of lockdown measures, epidemiological indicators continue to decline or stabilize at low levels. Surveillance has identified no signs of a resurgence of the epidemic.

Nevertheless, the virus is still present, and as of June 24, 2020, 12 SARS-CoV-2 infection clusters were being monitored in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. As was the case last week, the vast majority of these involve household clusters. Thus, for the first time in the region, a large-scale population screening campaign was organized by the ARS in Aubenas, in response to a major cluster in Drôme-Ardèche (56 cases identified). These screenings, accompanied by a prevention campaign, aim to identify potential new cases—particularly asymptomatic ones—and break the chains of transmission of the virus.

Finally, the summer and the arrival of the first heat wave in France must not make us forget the importance of preventive measures, and in particular the wearing of masks in enclosed spaces where people are present.
