Situation Analysis
All epidemiological surveillance indicators for dengue in Martinique point to the continuation of the epidemic. This epidemic has now been ongoing for 13 weeks. No unusual severity has been observed in this epidemic to date. The predominance of DENV-2, observed since early 2013, continues into September. This serotype was responsible for the 2007 epidemic. The situation corresponds to Phase 4, Level 1 of the Psage Dengue* (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to reiterate the importance of eliminating breeding sites and protecting oneself against mosquitoes. This year, it will be particularly important to follow the prevention guidelines provided during Operation Toussaint. Indeed, flowers placed on graves must not become sources of larval breeding sites. In the event of a sudden onset of fever, it is recommended that you consult your primary care physician.
