Situation Analysis
All epidemiological surveillance indicators for dengue fever in Martinique point to the epidemic continuing. It has now been ongoing for 15 weeks. Over the past two weeks, nearly all indicators have been declining, but confirmation of this trend over the next two weeks is needed before we can anticipate the epidemic ending soon. No unusual severity of this epidemic has been observed to date. The predominance of DENV-2, observed since early 2013, continues into October. This serotype was responsible for the 2007 epidemic. The situation corresponds to Phase 4, Level 1 of the Psage Dengue* (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to remember the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and protecting oneself against mosquitoes. In the event of a sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
