Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

The dengue epidemic continues throughout French Guiana, which remains in Phase 4 of the PSAGE, except in the west where the epidemic has ended. Outbreaks persist (in St. Laurent and Javouhey) in the western sector, which remains in Phase 2, “epidemic outbreaks.” Serotypes DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4 are co-circulating, with a strong predominance of serotype DEN-2. Given the overall epidemiological situation, it is important to emphasize the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and taking personal precautions against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
