Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in Guadeloupe. Update as of July 11, 2013.
Situation Analysis
All epidemiological surveillance indicators point to an increase in viral circulation in Guadeloupe during the first week of July, as the dengue epidemic intensifies. Indeed, the increase in the estimated number of clinically suggestive cases seen in private medical practices observed during the first week of July is significant. In June, serotype DENV-4, which had circulated only sporadically since 2005, became slightly predominant. The situation corresponds to Phase 4, Level 1 of the Psage Dengue system (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to remind the public of the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites and taking personal precautions against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
