Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in French Guiana. Update as of June 7, 2013.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

The dengue epidemic continues throughout French Guiana. The number of clinically suggestive cases and the number of biologically confirmed cases remain at high levels despite a downward trend observed since early May. Serotypes DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4 are circulating simultaneously, with a strong predominance of serotype DEN-2. Given the overall epidemiological situation, it is important to emphasize the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and taking personal precautions against mosquitoes. If you experience a sudden onset of fever, it is recommended that you consult your primary care physician.
