Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of October 16, 2020.
Epidemiological Situation
The dengue epidemic continues to spread actively in Martinique. For the past six weeks, the estimated weekly number of clinically suggestive cases seen in private practice has remained around 2,000. Although a slight decline in community surveillance indicators was observed in week 2020-41 (October 5–11, 2020), their values remain high, and the increase in severity indicators since early
September necessitates maintaining a very high level of vigilance. During this period of heavy rains, individual and collective action remains the
best way to combat the proliferation of mosquitoes: destruction of larval breeding sites, personal protection with repellents, and the use of mosquito nets and electric swatters. Martinique remains in Phase 4, Level 1 of the PSAGE* dengue alert system: confirmed epidemic.
