Public Health Monitoring in Corsica. Bulletin of July 15, 2026.

Key Points

Extreme Heat, Heat Wave

  • Météo France issued an orange heat wave alert for the island’s two departments from June 22 to July 2. This heat wave, which has now ended, was the subject of a specific heat wave bulletin published on July 8, available on the Santé publique France website.

Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika

  • In Corsica, no imported cases of dengue, chikungunya, or Zika have been confirmed since May 1.

All-Cause Mortality

  • In week 27 (S27), the weekly number of deaths from all causes reported by INSEE fell within the usual range of fluctuation. As a reminder, the most recent heat wave began in Corsica on Monday, June 22 (Week 26) and ended on Thursday, July 2 (Week 27).
  • Electronic death certification data show a decrease in deaths in Week 28, but the data still need to be consolidated, as coverage and sample sizes in Corsica are low and fluctuating.
