Locally acquired cases

  • One locally acquired case of West Nile virus infection was identified in the Pyrénées-Orientales. This marks the first detection of the virus circulating in humans in France in 2026.
  • No locally acquired cases of chikungunya, dengue, or Zika have been identified in mainland France.
  • Half of the imported dengue cases in mainland France were from the French West Indies (primarily Martinique).
