Key Points 

Malaria

• The number of malaria cases recorded in the country remained low and stable over the past two weeks, with 6 cases reported (2 in Week 29 and 4 in Week 30, provisional data) compared to a total of 3 in Weeks 27 and 28. Among these 6 cases—all caused by P. vivax—there was one relapse. Since the beginning of the year, 138 cases of malaria have been recorded, including 20 in May, 9 in June, and 10 in July. Over the past three months, most infections have occurred in gold-mining areas in the Savanes sector.

Bronchiolitis

• Activity related to bronchiolitis has decreased significantly in the CDPS and emergency departments at the three CHU sites, but RSV continues to be identified in biological samples. If this downward trend is confirmed, the end of the epidemic could be declared shortly. For now, the outbreak continues across the region.

Flu-like illness

• Influenza activity was low across the territory. A few Influenza B viruses are currently circulating in French Guiana.

COVID-19

• Despite a slight resurgence, SARS-CoV-2 activity remained low.

Diarrhea

• Diarrhea activity was decreasing and remained low in the territory.
