Since late January (Week 04), 916 cases of chikungunya have been laboratory-confirmed in French Guiana, including 67 in Week 25 (unconsolidated data). The virus continues to spread throughout the territory:
- Western coast: Although slightly decreasing, the number of emergency room visits for chikungunya remains high at the CHOG, indicating that the epidemic is continuing in this area.
- Savanas: The number of emergency room visits for chikungunya and the number of confirmed cases remain stable. The epidemic continues in this sector.
- Cayenne Island: Confirmed cases continue to be detected in this area, and three new outbreak clusters have been identified, bringing the total number of active clusters in this area to seven. Viral circulation is intensifying on Cayenne Island, which is currently in the outbreak phase.
- Maroni: Cases continue to be confirmed, and consultations for chikungunya are being recorded at the CDPS; the sector remains in the sporadic transmission phase.
