Key Points

Acute Lower Respiratory Tract Infections (ALRTIs)

  • In Week 40, syndromic surveillance indicators rose in the region, while remaining at levels slightly lower than those observed in previous years. Activity is primarily driven by the circulation of rhinoviruses and SARS-CoV-2. Reports of clusters of ARI cases in long-term care facilities are also on the rise, mainly linked to COVID-19. 

Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika

From May 1 (start of enhanced surveillance) to October 5, 2026, the following were identified in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes:

  • 16 imported cases of chikungunya;
  • 50 imported cases of dengue (36% imported from the Caribbean);
  • 3 cases of Zika;
  • no locally acquired cases identified.

West Nile Virus

  • As of October 5, 2026, 6 locally acquired human cases of West Nile virus infection had been identified in the region.
