Key Points

  • A new heat wave hit the region starting on July 5, 2026, with two departments (Drôme and Ardèche) placed under an orange heat warning. This orange heat warning was gradually expanded to cover all departments on July 13, 2026. Allier was placed under a red heat wave alert from July 12 to 14, 2026. As of July 15, 2026, all departments in the region remain under an orange heat wave alert.
  • A regional analysis of emergency care utilization indicates that the composite health indicator iCanicule (which includes cases of hyperthermia, dehydration, and hyponatremia) has remained stable since the start of the heatwave. Overall, the indicator values have exceeded those observed during the May 2026 heat wave but remain below those observed during the June 2026 heat wave.
