Public Health France Conference: June 4–6, 2019

From June 4 to 6, Santé publique France is organizing the “Public Health Meetings.”

These meetings are designed to facilitate peer-to-peer exchange and the sharing of experiences in public health: health surveillance, prevention efforts, and interventions.

Representatives from Santé publique France and external speakers, both French and international, will address current topics and demonstrate how their expertise is applied to public policy.

Since 2016, the Santé publique France Meetings have brought together more than 1,000 participants each year: professionals involved in the health, prevention, perinatal, social, and education sectors (public health actors, institutional representatives, scientists, associations, and students). They gather at the Centre Universitaire des Saint-Pères in Paris’s 6th arrondissement for three days of conferences and debates.

For this year’s event, 12 sessions, 3 workshops, and 3 seminars will be organized featuring speakers from a wide range of backgrounds. Registration is available on-site throughout the event. The full program is available online.

On Thursday, June 6, three seminars will be offered. The first will explore ethical questions within a public health framework for a health agency. The second will address the strengths and challenges of Maternal and Child Health (PMI) by discussing effective interventions and early prevention at home. The last will provide a review of the exceptional vaccination campaign that took place in Mayotte in 2018.

For the second consecutive year, a “last-minute” session will be held on Tuesday, June 4, from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Its objective is to present, in a concise format (no more than 15 minutes), recent news and highlights in public health: health alerts, results of studies or surveys, new developments in prevention and health promotion, proven initiatives, innovative approaches… About ten topics will be covered:

  • Occurrence of a secondary case of measles in a vaccinated healthcare worker with a history of Hodgkin’s lymphoma

  • 51 reported cases of atropine poisoning linked to the consumption of buckwheat flour contaminated with datura, February 2019, Martinique
