What role have nonprofit organizations played in the history of food aid?
Food aid is a last resort among the various forms of support provided to the poor. Through public policies—sometimes "punitive," sometimes "charitable"—the government has consistently worked in collaboration with nonprofit organizations, whose alternative role in caring for the most disadvantaged has been essential throughout the history of our societies.
