Week 40 (October 4–10, 2021):
In the Indian Ocean region, the number of emergency department visits for asthma among children under 15, as well as their share of total activity, are on the rise (53 visits and 4.1% in Week 40 vs. 44 visits and 3.4% in Week 39), at levels comparable to the previous three years. The number of hospitalizations following visits has decreased to 24.5%;
Nationally, asthma-related visits among children under 15 are on the rise in the SOS Médecins network (719 vs. 552 in S39, a 30% increase) and stable in emergency departments (3,058 visits vs. 2,986 in S39, a 2% increase). The levels observed in both networks are comparable to those of the past three years.
