Week 35 (August 24–30, 2020):

• In the Indian Ocean region, with the first week of school in Mayotte and the ^second in Réunion, there was a sharp increase in emergency room visits for asthma among children under 15 (+91%, or 55 more visits). The proportion of emergency department visits for asthma is significantly higher in 2020 than in the previous three years (14% in 2020 vs. 7% between 2017 and 2019).

• Nationally, one week before the start of the school year in mainland France, emergency room visits for asthma among children under 15 have risen slightly (+21%, or 55 more visits), as have visits to the SOS Médecins network (+23%, or 38 more cases).
