Asthma Surveillance. Weekly Update, September 18, 2018.

Key Points - Week 37 (September 10–16, 2018)

  • Nationwide, one week after the start of the school year, the increase in asthma-related visits to emergency rooms and SOS Médecins clinics continues among children (up 126% and 76%, respectively). The proportion of hospitalizations following emergency room visits for asthma remains stable at 32% compared to last week.

  • In the Indian Ocean, one month after the start of the school year, emergency room visits for asthma are down by 23% among children. The proportion of hospitalizations following visits remains stable at 26%.

Overall, the observed trends remain comparable to those of the previous two years.
