Asthma Health Monitoring - Back-to-School 2022. Weekly Update for October 18, 2022.
Key Points
In the Indian Ocean region, 9 weeks after the start of the school year in Réunion and 8 weeks in Mayotte, the number of emergency department visits and the proportion of cases related to asthma are declining (58 visits and 3.8%, respectively, vs. 74 visits and 4.4% in S40). The proportion of hospitalizations following visits is declining: 28% in Week 41 vs. 38% in Week 40. The observed level is comparable to that of previous years.
Nationally, during the 7th week of school in mainland France and for the Antilles/Guyana region, asthma-related visits among children under 15 are slightly increasing in both networks (for the SOS Médecins network, +9% or +63 cases, and in emergency departments +14% or +399 visits). Hospitalizations following emergency department visits are down slightly (22% vs. 25% in Week 40). The observed levels remain comparable to or even lower than those of the past three years.
