Week 39 (September 27–October 3, 2021):
In the Indian Ocean region, the number of emergency department visits for asthma among children under 15, as well as their share of total activity, are down (44 visits and 3.5% in Week 39 vs. 59 visits and 4.9% in Week 38), at levels lower than in the previous three years. The number of hospitalizations following visits remains stable at 29%;
Nationally, asthma-related visits among children under 15 are declining; the decline is more pronounced at SOS Médecins (552 cases vs. 697 in S38, a decrease of 25%) than in emergency departments (2,981 visits vs. 3,143 in S38, a decrease of 5%). The levels observed are slightly higher than those of the past three years in emergency departments.
