“Bilingual health records”: tools for connecting migrants with healthcare and social services professionals
Serving as a tool for communication and dialogue between migrants and healthcare or social services professionals, these bilingual health booklets are designed to help everyone better understand the French healthcare system, their rights, and the necessary procedures.
The booklets are distributed in person and free of charge by professionals. The bilingual layout across a double page facilitates mutual understanding during interactions.
This new edition, developed in collaboration with the Medical Committee for the Health of Exiles (Comede) and partner organizations, draws on feedback from users and professionals over nearly a decade. Written in a more accessible style, it features enriched content. It addresses key health and prevention topics and provides practical information to facilitate access to healthcare and daily life.
The booklet is organized into three main sections:
Access to healthcare and prevention: professional interpretation services, financial assistance, where to seek care, health insurance, disability, health and work;
Health: staying healthy (prevention and check-ups), mental health, sexual health and HIV, pregnancy, children’s health, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, learning to live with an illness, health and climate, health in France’s overseas territories;
Useful information: combating discrimination, the role of the social worker and health mediator, administrative registration, translation of official documents, daily life, learning French, children’s schooling, emergency contact numbers, map of France
