• In 2023, 2,201 cases of Legionnaires’ disease were reported in France through the system for notifiable diseases. This number of cases was higher than in 2022 (+16%) and exceeded the record high reached in 2018 (2,133 cases). Of these 2,201 cases, 29 were residents of overseas departments and regions, and 29 were foreign nationals diagnosed in France.

• The case notification rate for Legionnaires’ disease in France was 3.2 per 100,000 inhabitants (3.2 per 100,000 inhabitants in mainland France).

• Since 2017, the number of reported Legionnaires’ disease cases has remained high, and the case fatality rate has not decreased.
