Legionellosis in France. Summary of reported cases in 2022.

Key Points

In 2022, 1,897 cases of Legionnaires’ disease were reported in France through the mandatory reporting system. Of these, 27 cases were residents of the French overseas departments and regions (11 cases in Réunion, 2 in French Guiana, 7 in Guadeloupe, and 7 in Martinique), and 33 cases were foreign nationals diagnosed in France.

The case notification rate for Legionnaires' disease in France was 2.7 per 100,000 inhabitants (2.8 per 100,000 inhabitants in metropolitan France).

Since 2017, the number of reported cases of Legionnaires’ disease has remained high, and the case fatality rate has not decreased.
