Study of Vaccination Coverage During the Preventive Vaccination Campaign Against Meningococcal Type C. Puy-de-Dôme, 2002
On January 11, 2002, the Minister of Health decided to launch a meningococcal C vaccination campaign in the Puy-de-Dôme department, due to the increased incidence of this infection in the central part of the department during 2001—which was more pronounced toward the end of the year—and the severity of the infection. The vaccination campaign targeted all individuals under the age of 21 residing or attending school in this area, comprising 13 cantons and 1 municipality, as well as individuals aged 21 to 24 living in group settings or working with children. The vaccine used was a conjugate vaccine. [...]. The French Institute for Public Health Surveillance commissioned the Interregional Epidemiology Unit to evaluate the vaccination coverage of this campaign. The main objective of this study was to calculate vaccination coverage among the target population under the age of 21. The study was conducted using all vaccination records completed by vaccinating physicians in closed communities and vaccination centers, as well as vaccination forms completed by private practitioners and pharmacists.
