How is the French public’s adherence to preventive measures against winter viruses changing? Results from Wave 37 of the CoviPrev survey

Key indicators of preventive behaviors among the French population during Wave 37 (September 11–18, 2023) and comparison with Wave 35 (September 12–19, 2022)

  • 15% of participants report wearing a mask systematically in the presence of vulnerable people.

  • 60% (unchanged) of respondents would be willing to continue following or follow more frequently preventive measures in the event of a resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic (versus 25% in the event of a flu pandemic).

  • 74% (stable) of participants eligible for the new fall COVID-19 vaccine dose due to their age (≥65 years) or underlying health conditions (pregnancy, comorbidities, obesity) report intending to receive it.

  • 49% (stable) of participants at risk of severe forms of the flu due to their age (≥65 years) or underlying conditions (comorbidities, obesity) report wanting to receive both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines.

  • 31% of respondents who have had symptoms of COVID-19 since January 2023 did not get tested following their symptoms.
