  • Mainland France:

    • A very sharp increase in all national indicators, particularly hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and deaths

    • Rapid acceleration of the COVID-19 outbreak across the entire country

    • Significant increase in hospitalizations (+62%)

    • ICU admissions: 62% of people aged 65 and older; 89% with comorbidities

    • Increase in the number of deaths

    • Increase in the number of cases and deaths in long-term care facilities

    • Most affected regions: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Île-de-France, and Hauts-de-France

    • Most affected metropolitan areas: Saint-Étienne, Lille, Lyon, and Grenoble

  • Overseas territories:

    • Continued increase in Martinique; downward trend in Guadeloupe and slight increase in French Guiana

    • Slight increase in Mayotte and upward trend in Réunion

  • Mental Health and Prevention: CoviPrev Survey (October 19–21)

    • Significant increase in depressive disorders

    • Improved adherence to contact-reduction measures
