Key Points

In Week 40, the situation continued to improve nationwide, but the decline in indicators was less pronounced, and they showed a tendency toward stabilization in certain regions.

  • Mainland France:

    • A trend toward stabilization in the incidence rate and new hospitalizations in certain areas

    • Effective reproduction number (R) <1 but rising for the third consecutive week, reflecting increased viral circulation

  • Overseas territories:

    • French Guiana: incidence rate decreasing but still high, with continued heavy pressure on hospitals

    • Martinique: incidence and hospitalization rates remain high

Variants

  • 99% of cases identified as the Delta variant through sequencing during the Flash surveys on September 14 and 21, 2021

Contact tracing

  • Slight decrease in the proportion of cases previously identified as contacts over the past two weeks

  • Decrease in the number of cases with school exposure

Prevention

  • As of October 12, 2021, 75.6% of the population had received at least one dose of the vaccine and 73.5% were fully vaccinated (Covid Vaccine data)

  • CoviPrev Survey (September 28–October 5, 2021):

    • Stabilization in the consistent adoption of preventive measures compared to the previous wave (August 31–September 7)

    • The proportion of respondents stating they do not intend to get vaccinated remains stable at 13%

    • 60% of respondents said they were in favor of the health pass

  • Importance of combined measures: vaccination, participation in contact tracing, and adherence to preventive measures
