COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for November 5, 2020

Note: The incident that caused a delay in the transmission of some laboratory data to Santé publique France has been resolved. An update of the data for week 44 has been completed and included in the epidemiological report dated November 9, 2020.

  • Mainland France: Continued increase in the number of cases, hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and deaths

    • Increase in hospitalizations (+43%)

    • ICU admissions: 65% of patients aged 65 and older; 88% with comorbidities

    • Continued increase in the number of deaths, more pronounced in week 43

    • Sharp increase in the number of cases and deaths in long-term care facilities

    • Most affected regions: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Hauts-de-France, and Île-de-France

  • Overseas territories:

    • Continued increase in Martinique; downward trend in Guadeloupe and stabilization in French Guiana; increase in Mayotte and Réunion

  • Prevention:

    • It is essential to maintain individual prevention measures and limit contact during the lockdown

    • If symptoms develop, immediately self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible
