COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for March 3, 2022
Key Points
In Week 08, the epidemic situation continued to improve; all virological and
hospital indicators were declining but remained at a high level.
Mainland France:
Incidence and positivity rates declining across all age groups and in all regions
Decline in new hospitalizations across all regions
Incidence and hospitalization rates are decreasing, but indicators remain high in Réunion
Contact tracing
Decrease in the number of cases (-29%) and at-risk contacts (-24%)
Stable at a low level: the number of contacts reported per case (on average 1.0 contact per case contacted)
Variants
Omicron accounted for 99.6% of interpretable sequences in the Flash S07 survey of 02/14
BA.2 sublineage on the rise (25% in S07, 15.4% in S06)
Prevention
CoviPrev Survey Wave 32 (February 7–14):
Stabilization of reported adherence to the booster dose
Mental health remains poor: 70% of respondents reported having sleep problems
Vaccination status as of March 1, 2022 (Covid Vaccine data):
79.3% of the total population had received a full primary vaccination series
72.5% of those aged 18 and older had received a booster dose (82.5% of eligible individuals) and 82.7% of those aged 65 and older (90.9% of eligible individuals)
Importance of combined measures: a complete vaccination regimen, including a booster shot as early as three months after the initial series, as well as adherence to recommended measures (wearing masks, handwashing, frequent ventilation of enclosed spaces, and participation in contact tracing)
