In Week 11, all indicators continued to deteriorate, leading to severe strain on hospitals in several regions.
Significant increase in the number of new cases over the past two weeks
Increase in the number of patients hospitalized and in critical care units
A slight upward trend in the number of cases and hospitalizations among people aged 75 and older
Intensified testing in schools
COVID-19-related mortality remains high
Mainland France: marked increase in incidence across all regions (except Corsica and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur)
Overseas territories: increase in incidence in Martinique and in the number of hospitalizations in Guadeloupe
Variants
Proportion of suspected variants of interest identified by screening RT-PCR:
suspected cases of the 20I/501Y.V1 variant are the majority in mainland France at 76.3%
suspected cases of the 20H/501Y.V2 or 20J/501Y.V3 variants remain stable at 4.7%
Prevention
Vaccination: 6,616,899 people (9.9% vaccination coverage) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
