Key Points

In Week 26, the situation deteriorated after several weeks of improvement in epidemiological indicators, with increased circulation of SARS-CoV-2 among those under 65 and a sharp rise in the detection of the Delta variant.

  • A marked increase in the incidence rate among those aged 15–64, particularly among those aged 15–44

  • Continued decline in hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care

  • Mainland France: increased circulation of SARS-CoV-2 in all regions, with regional variation

  • Overseas territories: increase in indicators in Martinique and Réunion

  • Variants of concern (VOC):

    • Alpha variant in sharp decline

    • Delta variant rising sharply, with geographic variation

Prevention

  • Vaccination coverage in the general population as of July 6: 52% for one dose and 38% for full vaccination

  • Decreased adherence to preventive measures and a recent increase in situations posing a risk of infection

  • Decrease in reported cases of depression and anxiety

  • Importance of vaccination across the entire eligible population

  • Importance of complying with contact tracing protocols to limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2

  • If symptoms develop, immediate isolation is required, and a test should be taken as soon as possible
