COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for February 10, 2022
Key Points
In Week 05, the slowdown in SARS-CoV-2 transmission was confirmed across the country and was accompanied by a decline in new hospital admissions, but indicators remained high.
Mainland France:
Incidence rates declining across all regions
Positivity rates continue to rise among those aged 60 and older
Hospital indicators have begun to decline in most regions
Excess mortality from all causes since November linked to the severity of the fifth wave in France
Virological and hospital indicators are decreasing but remain high in Réunion
Contact tracing
Decrease in the number of cases and contacts
Stable and very low number of contacts reported per case identified (value of 1.1)
Variants
Omicron accounted for 98.8% of interpretable sequences in the Flash S04 survey of 01/24
The BA.2 sublineage remains a minority but is on the rise (5.4% on 01/24 vs. 1.9% on 01/17)
Prevention
Vaccination as of February 8, 2022 (Covid Vaccine data):
78.9% of the total population had received a full primary vaccination series
69.3% of those aged 18 and older had received a booster dose (79.4% of eligible individuals) and 82.3% of those aged 65 and older (90.3% of eligible individuals)
Importance of combined measures:
Complete vaccination series with a booster shot as early as three months
Adherence to preventive measures, including mask-wearing and reducing contact, as well as other recommended measures such as frequent ventilation of enclosed spaces, teleworking, and participation in contact tracing
