COVID-19: Epidemiological Update as of April 30, 2020
Key Points
Over the past four weeks, epidemiological indicators of SARS-CoV-2 circulation in the community and in hospitals have been declining:
a decrease in calls to SOS Médecins and hospital emergency departments for COVID-19, reflecting a decline in new infections
a decrease in the number of new hospitalizations and new ICU admissions for COVID-19 patients
a decrease in the number of hospitalized patients and patients in intensive care
Stable estimate of the number of COVID-19 cases who have consulted a general practitioner
Patients at risk for COVID-19
ICU: 79% of cases with comorbidities and 52% aged 65 and older
Deaths: at least 83% with comorbidities and 92% aged 65 and older
Excess mortality from all causes at the national level, particularly pronounced in the Grand Est and Île-de-France regions
Less consistent adoption of protective measures over time since the start of lockdown
