In Week 14, indicators remained at a very high level, with continued strain on hospitals.

  • Stabilization of the incidence rate, taking into account the Monday holiday

  • Decrease in the number of tests but increase in the positivity rate

  • New hospitalizations and admissions to critical care units have stabilized

  • The number of patients currently hospitalized and in critical care units continues to rise

  • Increase in COVID-19-related deaths

  • Mainland France: Île-de-France, Hauts-de-France, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions remain severely affected

  • Overseas territories: rising incidence and positivity rates in the French West Indies and French Guiana

Variants

  • Proportion of suspected variants of concern (VOC) identified by screening RT-PCR:

    • suspected cases of the 20I/501Y.V1 variant are the majority in mainland France at 83.0%

    • suspected cases of the 20H/501Y.V2 or 20J/501Y.V3 variants remain stable at 3.8%

Prevention

  • Vaccination: 11,366,175 people have received at least one dose (vaccination coverage: 16.9%)

  • Importance of consistently following preventive measures and limiting contact and travel

  • If symptoms develop, immediate isolation is required, and a test should be performed as soon as possible
