Vaccination uptake among older adults for vaccines against acute respiratory infections. Results of the IRAPrev survey (March 28–April 14, 2025)

  • 80% of seniors say they are in favor of vaccination in general.

  • Whether for the COVID-19 vaccine or the flu vaccine, men and people aged 80 and older are more likely to report having been vaccinated last winter.

  • 66% of seniors consider their healthcare provider to be their primary source of information and decision-making regarding their vaccinations. 42% of those not vaccinated against COVID-19 and 31% of those not vaccinated against the flu cite their refusal of annual vaccination as the reason for their refusal. The second most common reason cited is a preference for protection based on preventive measures.

  • 19% of people aged 80 and older cite a preference for protection through homeopathy or alternative medicine as the reason for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • 44% of those opposed to the COVID-19 vaccine and 60% of those opposed to the flu vaccine state that no argument would make them change their minds.

  • 86% of participants say they have never heard of RSV.
