Acute gastroenteritis

Acute winter gastroenteritis is often caused by viruses. Every year, there is a surge in cases in France, as in the rest of Europe, leading to an increase in medical consultations for acute winter gastroenteritis.

Epidemiological Data

The surveillance system for acute viral gastroenteritis allows for monitoring the progression of these infections and for reporting at the regional level on the increase in AGE activity observed each winter. Regional surveillance of AGE is carried out by Santé publique France in the regions (Regional Units).
