Survival of People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Chronic myeloproliferative syndromes other than chronic myeloid leukemia - Essential thrombocythemia

In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of TE was 2,057, including 862 in men and 1,195 in women. Key points: Standardized net survival of 99% at 1 year and 91% at 5 years for individuals diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; Decrease in 5-year net survival for diagnoses after age 60: from 99% at age 40 to 85% at age 80; Between 2005 and 2015, a decrease in 5-year net survival among individuals diagnosed at age 60 or older, with an 11 percentage point decline among those diagnosed at age 80; Excess mortality remains low (less than 0.08 deaths per person-year) regardless of age and year of diagnosis.
